Panglao has a new burger heavyweight. If you’ve driven down the main road toward Alona Beach recently, you’ve probably noticed a small, unpretentious spot that’s consistently packed during dinner. It’s called Burger Bros, and it currently holds a rare, flawless 5-star rating on Google.
I headed there to see if the hype was real or just good marketing. As it turns out, the secret isn’t actually a secret at all. It’s just high-quality execution.
The Art of the Smash
The success of Burger Bros Panglao comes down to the basics. They start with high-quality ground beef with a precise meat-to-fat ratio. Watching them work is a masterclass in the “smash” technique: they sear the patties on a hot flat-top until they develop that perfect, salty crust, while buttering and toasting the buns right next to them until they are golden brown. 🧈🥯
Every burger is layered with:
- Melted American cheese
- Fresh lettuce, tomato, and pickles
- A generous pile of caramelized onions
- Their signature “Secret Sauce”
The ₱189 Powerhouse (and the “Wrong” Way to Eat It)
I started with the Single Burger, which at ₱189, is one of the best value-for-money meals on the island right now. I paired it with their homemade Korean Coleslaw.
Now, I decided to get a little messy and put the slaw inside the burger. I’m not sure the staff would recommend it, and I definitely used up all their tissues, but the cold crunch against the hot beef worked beautifully. 🥗🤤
The Kimchi Burger & Potato Bombs
If you want a flavor bomb, the Kimchi Burger is the move. The sharp, spicy acidity of the kimchi cuts through the richness of the beef perfectly. It’s a nod to the Korean influence in the area (located right beside Pang Pang Pocha) and it just makes sense.
And don’t leave without ordering the Potato Bombs. 💣🔥 They are crispy on the outside, soft and mashy on the inside, with a melted mozzarella center. Served with more onions and sauce, they are an instant favorite.
The Verdict
There is no “secret” here—just the right ingredients, proper cooking methods, and everything served fresh. Burger Bros is a solid, direct hit for the Panglao food scene.
