When you think of “grill” or “barbecue” here in the Philippines, you might picture a smoky, casual street-side setup. But ENKI Grill & Bar in Panglao is here to change that perception entirely.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this new Japanese-inspired charcoal grill, and it wasn’t just a meal—it was a performance.
Minimalist Elegance
From the moment you step inside, you know you’re in for something different. The design is stunning: minimalist, simple, yet incredibly elegant. It sets a relaxed mood that encourages you to slow down and really savor the evening. It’s the kind of space that feels intentional in every detail.

The Best Seat in the House
If you visit, take my advice: sit at the bar.
This is where the magic happens. ENKI is devoted to the craft of charcoal grilling, and watching the meticulous chef at work is mesmerizing. Seeing your food come to life right in front of you, prepared with such focus and passion, elevates the anticipation before you even take a bite.

Elevating the Simple (and the Luxurious)
The menu is curated with smaller portions, which I love because it allows you to try a wide variety of flavors without getting stuffed too quickly.
What impressed me most was how they handle ingredients. They take simple, local produce like okra and cabbage and cook them to such perfection that you appreciate them in a whole new way. The charcoal kiss really brings out the best in them.
But if you want to truly treat yourself, they don’t hold back. We indulged in prime cuts of meat and even foie gras with caviar. That was, without a doubt, a highlight of the night.

And it’s not just about the grill. I have to mention the Seafood Fried Rice. It might sound standard, but this was hands-down one of the best versions I’ve ever tried.
The Verdict
ENKI is also a thoughtfully curated bar, so you can pair your meal with premium spirits, cocktails, or a great local draft beer.
Is it pricier than your standard island BBQ? Yes, definitely. But you aren’t just paying for food; you are paying for an experience, for top-tier ingredients, and for the skill of a chef who treats grilling as an art form.
If you are in Panglao and looking for a dining experience worth remembering, ENKI is the place to be.
