Last August 28, Panglao came alive with music, colors, and dance during the annual Hudyaka sa Panglao, a celebration honoring the town’s patron saint, St. Augustine. The streets filled with energy as locals and visitors gathered to witness one of Bohol’s most anticipated cultural events.
🌸 Ten Barangays, One Spirit
This year, 10 barangays joined the street dancing competition, each proudly bringing their own story to life through music, costumes, and choreography. Every group showcased not only their creativity but also the deep traditions that bind the people of Panglao together. From children to elders, the performers radiated pride for their community.
🥁 Beats, Colors, and Cheers
The sound of drums echoed across the town, guiding the rhythm of the dancers as they moved in harmony. Brightly decorated costumes shimmered under the afternoon sun, while cheers from the crowd added to the festive atmosphere. It wasn’t just a competition — it was a reminder of how celebrations like this keep Boholano culture alive.
🌴 More Than Just a Festival
Hudyaka sa Panglao is more than a street parade; it’s a gathering that strengthens community ties. It’s where tradition meets joy, and where locals and tourists alike get to experience the richness of Panglao’s heritage.

📸 Capturing the Moment
I had the privilege to be there, capturing the faces, energy, and emotions of the event through my lens. Each shot tells a story — of pride, resilience, and the simple joy of dancing together. These moments remind us that culture is best experienced not just by watching, but by feeling the rhythm of the community.
